Mx Justin Vivian Bond is a trans-genre artist living in New York City. She is a performer, an author, a painter, sculptor, and a live artist among others. The essay used in this lesson was originally posted on Bond’s blog as a letter to her fans and focuses on identity and pronouns. ‘Mx.’ (pronounced /mɪks/ or/mʌks/) is used in the UK as a gender-nonspecific alternative to ‘Mr.,’ ‘Miss,’ ‘Mrs.,’ and ‘Ms.’
